Inspiring Impressionism

Inspiring Impressionism opened February 23 and continues through May 25, 2008. Organized by the Denver Art Museum (DAM), the exhibition features more than 100 paintings and works on paper drawn from nearly 70 museums and private collections, some of which have never traveled to the United States. Tickets for Inspiring Impressionism can be purchased at the Museum, online 24 hours a day at Www.denverartmuseum.org, or by phone by calling 1-866-942-2787 (1-866-942-ARTS) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Ticket prices (which include a self-guided audio tour with adult and children's versions) are $20 for adults, $17 for seniors and college students, $12 for youth. Members receive free admission ($4 for audio tour) with the number of tickets determined by membership level and availability. Members can purchase additional tickets beyond that number at a special discount.
Take Two: Film and its Inspirations

The Denver Art Museum Cinema’s spring film series presents a unique program on cinematic influence and homage. Screened in conjunction with Inspiring Impressionism, the eight-film series spotlights the influences classics had on succeeding films and their impressionable makers. Pairings range from The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown to The Searchers and Taxi Driver. The film series will screen Fridays, April 4-May 16, 7 p.m. in Sharp Auditorium, Hamilton Building. Single ticket prices are $7 for Museum members, seniors and students; $8 for all others. Series tickets are $40 for Museum members, seniors and students; $45 for all others. Colorado State Patrol Youth Academy

The Colorado State Patrol is accepting applications for its 2008 Youth Academy to be held June 18-14 at its Academy in Golden, CO. The seven-day Colorado State Patrol (CSP) Youth Academy is designed to develop future leaders for the State of Colorado.  Forty Junior and Senior high school students that can meet the requirements will attend at no cost. Colorado residents interested in applying must be 16 years old as of June 8  and can obtain an application at any CSP Troop office or by going to the CSP web site for details: www.csp.state.co.  (Click "Programs & Services," then "Education," and "CSP Youth Academy".)  Applications must be submitted by March 7th. In addition to the requirements mentioned, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.0. a valid Colorado Driver's License, proof of medical insurance, two letters of recommendation, complete an essay explaining why they are the best choice for attending the Academy and are subject to a background check.
‘THIS AMERICAN LIFE’ HOST IRA GLASS

The Fine Arts Center and KRCC are proud to bring Ira Glass, host and producer of the public radio program, This American Life, to Colorado Springs for a Masterpiece Series Lecture on Saturday, June 14, at Armstrong Hall on the campus of Colorado College at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through KRCC by calling 719.473.4801. Fine Arts Center and KRCC members will be given first priority for tickets to the lecture.

29th U.S. Senior Open The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs July 28 – August 3, 2008 The U.S. Senior Open Golf Championship will be held at The Broadmoor, July 28-August 3, 2008. The championship will bring the top senior golfers (age 50 and over) to the East Course to compete for the National Championship; players expected to compete include Hale Irwin, Mark O’Meara and Tom Watson. Tickets to the championship are now available at King Soopers locations or www.2008ussenioropen.com. Tickets start at $20 and include free parking and free shuttle transportation to the admission gate. Additionally, all kids 17 and under are admitted free to the championship when accompanied by a ticketed adult.
